Job Opportunity: Export Control and Compliance Officer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Export Control and Compliance Officer to provide practical, business-focused advice across a complex engineering environment.

This role would suit an experienced export control, international trade, or compliance professional with strong knowledge of UK export legislation, licensing, and sanctions. You will be confident advising senior stakeholders, managing complex compliance matters, and working across technical and commercial teams. Defence sector experience, knowledge of ITAR/EAR, and experience using LITE or SPIRE would be particularly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the Export Control Compliance Programme, acting as the principal adviser on export controls, licensing requirements, sanctions, and relevant international trade regulations.
  • Classify military, dual-use, software, and technology against UK Strategic Export Control Lists, assessing technology transfers, end users, end use, and destination risks.
  • Prepare, submit, and administer export licences through LITE, including OGELs, OIELs, and SIELs, while maintaining accurate records and liaising with ECJU, HMRC, and other regulatory authorities.
  • Manage sanctions and denied-party screening, support customs compliance, and advise on UK export legislation alongside US ITAR and EAR requirements where applicable.
  • Develop policies and procedures, deliver compliance training, conduct audits and monitoring, investigate potential breaches, and support wider ethics, anti-bribery, third-party due diligence, and compliance activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
