An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ocean Export Operator to join a well-established and internationally recognised freight forwarding business based in the South Manchester area.

With a strong global network and decades of industry success, our client provides tailored logistics and supply chain solutions across air, ocean, road, and customs services. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a proactive and customer-focused Ocean Export professional to their operations team.

Following successful completion of probation, employees benefit from a hybrid working arrangement, with 2 days per week working from home.

The Role

As an Ocean Export Operator, you will be responsible for managing export shipments from booking through to completion, ensuring exceptional customer service and operational excellence throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing FCL and LCL export shipments from start to finish
  • Liaising with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, and customers
  • Creating and checking shipping documentation
  • Coordinating bookings and monitoring shipment progress
  • Providing customers with shipment updates and resolving operational queries
  • Arranging customs requirements where applicable
  • Ensuring all shipments comply with company procedures and industry regulations
  • Maintaining accurate shipment records within the operating system
  • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience within an Ocean Export forwarding environment
  • Strong understanding of FCL and LCL export processes
  • Experience handling shipments end-to-end
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • Experience using CargoWise is essential
  • Knowledge of customs procedures would be advantageous
