Export Official Veterinarian - Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire

We are looking for an Export Official Veterinarian to work in the Scunthorpe area (Lincolnshire) to play an important role in facilitating the worldwide export of UK food and animal products. This is a temporary position for 18 months (potential to extend).

Shifts are Monday to Friday, days, with occasional nights or weekends.

Our Export Official Veterinarians (EOVs) are responsible for the completion of Export Health Certificates for some of Britain’s biggest brands and businesses.

Responsibilities

As an EOV you will need to establish and maintain productive working relationships with export customers. You will also have to understand legislative issues and gain a comprehensive knowledge of the exporting sector.

  • Completion of EHCs (Export Health Certificates)
  • Inspecting export vehicles, finished goods, integrity of packaging and labelling
  • Providing audit verification / photographic evidence of the export process
  • Sending the appropriate documentation within the agreed timescale
  • Building relationships with all stakeholders

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effectively manage and maintain all product information required to support the Export Health Certification of Products of Animal Origin (POAO) to be exported to or transit the EU
  • Oversee and supply future and continuous improvement for all aspects of Exports Certification
  • Deliver best-in-class solutions, to serve our operational and retail customers better, by improving availability and stock record accuracy
  • Effectively deal with Customs and Excise compliance and freight financial obligations for all Exports
  • Plan and manage changes to EU requirements, operations, budgets and process changes within the business
  • Highlight trends, improve performance, and ensure compliance with agreed processes
  • Be an ambassador for the business in all aspects of the supplier, third party, contract management and Government
  • Provide advice, guidance and coaching to internal and external Stakeholders on complex food export legislation to ensure the provision of accurate product data

  • Education: Veterinary Medicine Degree
  • MRCVS registration or eligibility to obtain it
  • Right to work in the UK - ideally
  • Experience: earlier experience is preferred but not essential; full training will be provided
  • English Level a minimum IELTS (Level 7)
  • Driving licence: Full clean licence category B – mandatory (minimum driving experience 1 year)
  • Basic commercial understanding and awareness of developing / operating third-party contracts
  • In-depth understanding of stock flow and stock record management across grocery retail
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills including database systems, Excel, Google sheets and data management
