Build a brilliant future with Hiscox

About Hiscox

As an international specialist insurer, we are far removed from the world of mass-market insurance products. Instead, we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength, underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.

We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.

Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.

Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.

About the team/division:

The Hiscox London Market Exposure Management Team comprises 8 people based in London. The role of the team is to help Hiscox London Market deliver its underwriting goals by controlling the level of exposures across multiple Lines of Business. The team is highly motivated and committed to ensure that all decisions involving catastrophe risk, modelled and non-modelled, are based on the latest science, information and analysis, and are carried out in a coherent fashion throughout the organisation.

We are a team that looks out for each other so that we can move forward individually and together through continuous improvement of our work. You will be sharing your technical knowledge and work experience naturally every day with the team and driving your own career development, thus shaping your own and the teams future.

The role

For this role we are looking for someone who can take ownership, work independently, and thrive on ambiguity. The successful candidate will be highly numerate, with an ability to think creatively and communicate effectively. You will need to confidently make sound business decisions and back these up with relevant data. You will need to find solutions to problems where there is not an established approach.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
