We are seeking expressions of interest from enthusiastic, compassionate and dedicated individuals for the role of Inclusion Mentor at Hartlepool Sixth Form. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to develop independence, engage in learning and thrive within an inclusive college environment.
About The Role
As an Inclusion Mentor, you will work collaboratively with curriculum teams and student support services to provide tailored support to students with learning difficulties, disabilities, emotional needs and behavioural challenges.
You will play a key role in helping students integrate into college life, overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed. Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals, you will contribute to personalised support strategies, monitor student progress and help create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mentoring and tailored support to students with SEND and additional learning needs across mainstream and discrete college courses.
- Support the development, implementation and review of individualised assessment and support strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, curriculum teams and student support professionals to address barriers to learning.
- Identify emerging concerns at an early stage and communicate these effectively to relevant staff and managers.
- Promote student engagement, independence, confidence, wellbeing and positive behaviour.
- Contribute to an inclusive college culture where every student feels valued, supported and empowered to achieve.

About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion, understands the diverse needs of young people and is committed to helping every learner reach their potential.
You Will Ideally Have
- A relevant qualification in care, learning support or youth work, preferably NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- GCSEs in English and Maths.
- Experience supporting individuals with SEND or additional learning needs.
- Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), assessment and support plans.
- An understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the Equality Act.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
