Expression of Interest: Senior Planner/Planner
Sir Robert McAlpine, through Integrated Health Projects (IHP), our long-standing joint venture with VINCI Building, has been appointed to deliver the new Leighton Hospital in Crewe as part of the Government's New Hospital Programme.
This is a major opportunity to join the team at the early stages of one of the UK's most significant healthcare programmes. The new hospital will replace the existing Leighton Hospital and will be delivered using the Hospital 2.0 approach, bringing together standardised design, digital innovation, clinical leadership and collaborative delivery to create a modern healthcare environment for patients, staff and the wider community.
We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Planners who want to play a key role in the delivery of this major programme.

The Planner role
You will be part of a Planning team for an £800 million + landmark programme, ensuring robust scheduling, accurate reporting, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Management: Develop, maintain, and manage all programmes and production control deliverables across the project lifecycle.
- Detailed Planning Outputs: Prepare comprehensive phasing diagrams, logistics plans, S-curves, resource histograms, and plant schedules.
- Project Controls: Implement robust controls, including forecasting, early warning systems, performance monitoring and other Key Performance Indicators.
- Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate the planning roadmap and performance measures to project teams, clients, and supply chain partners.
- Challenge & Assurance: Question and validate project plans to ensure compliance with company, regional, and project targets.
- Pre-Contract & Bid Support: Contribute to tender strategies, pre-contract planning, and bid submissions.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards and company management systems.
- Innovation: Drive planning and project control innovations, including 4D integration and digital tools.

Your Profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Solid understanding of construction methods and planning from first principles.
- Experience managing planning on large, complex, multi-million-pound projects.
- An ability to manage and develop less experienced planners.
- Good understanding of NEC form of contract.
- Experience with Primavera P6 and Powerproject planning software.
Desirable Skills:
- Good experience in and understanding of Digital/4D planning would be advantageous.
Additional Attributes:
- Proven track record in pre-contract planning and bid contributions.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Passion for innovation and driving planning initiatives.
- Experience in the healthcare sector is highly advantageous.
