Base Location: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen or London
Business Unit: Evolv Energies, part of Xodus Group, leads major international projects, providing integrated perspectives and specialist engineering expertise to support offshore developers, investors, and the construction and installation supply chain through Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, and Construction and Installation activities.
Role: Our Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer - Power Systems will support the delivery (including tendering) of power systems, grid connection, transmission & distribution, renewable energy, and industrial electrification projects across the UK, United States, Canada, and international energy markets.
Key Requirements:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (US PE), Professional Engineer (Canada P.Eng) or actively working towards professional registration.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

Power System Studies & Analysis:
- Undertake complex power system studies using DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS®E, and ETAP
- Perform steady-state and dynamic power system analysis for transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and industrial power systems
- Undertake dynamic stability studies, including transient, voltage, and frequency stability assessments
- Deliver generator interconnection and grid connection studies
- Perform power system reliability and resilience assessments
- Develop practical engineering recommendations

Grid Connection & Network Planning:
- Support grid connection, interconnection, and network access studies across UK, US, and Canadian markets
- Interface with utilities, ISOs, TSOs, DNOs, transmission owners, and regulatory authorities

Electrical Engineering Design & Technical Assurance:
- Develop and review electrical engineering deliverables
- Ensure compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice

Project Delivery:
- Deliver work in accordance with project budgets, schedules, and quality objectives
- Interface directly with clients, OEMs, contractors, and project stakeholders

Business Development & Client Engagement:
- Support the preparation of technical proposals, tenders, and client presentations
- Participate in business development and client engagement activities

Leadership & Mentoring (Principal Engineer):
- Provide technical leadership across projects, bids, and multidisciplinary teams
- Act as a subject matter expert in one or more specialist power systems disciplines
- Mentor and develop junior engineers
- Represent the company within industry working groups, conferences, and professional organisations
Role Requirements include:
- A hands-on engineer with a can-do attitude and willingness to work with teams at all levels
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (US PE), Professional Engineer (Canada P.Eng) or actively working towards professional registration
- Senior Engineer: Typically, 5-10 years of relevant experience
- Principal Engineer: Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience
- Proven experience delivering power systems engineering studies within a consultancy, utility, renewable energy developer, OEM, industrial, or power infrastructure environment
- Strong understanding of transmission and distribution systems, generation assets, and inverter-based resources
- Strong technical report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and engineering calculation tools
- Experience with Python or other automation tools for power systems analysis
- Experience supporting owner's engineer, lender's technical advisor, or independent engineering services
