Exterior Lead Engineer | Automotive Exterior Systems | 12-Month Contract
We are looking for an experienced Exterior Lead Engineer to support the development of next-generation vehicle exterior systems within a leading automotive engineering programme. This role will take ownership of bumper, grille, exterior trim and underfloor component development from concept through to production.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience leading exterior systems development within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment
- Strong background in bumpers, grilles, exterior finishers, trims, appliques and underfloor systems
- CATIA V6 / 3DX experience
- Knowledge of plastic injection moulding, tooling and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of aerodynamic requirements, pedestrian safety regulations and automotive quality standards
- Experience managing APQP activities, engineering change requests and supplier relationships
- Ability to drive component validation, vehicle testing and issue resolution through to sign-off
- Degree qualified in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

Responsibilities
- Lead commodity delivery against quality, cost and timing targets
- Manage engineering releases, change control and programme milestones
- Coordinate testing, validation and design verification activities
- Work closely with suppliers, engineering teams and key stakeholders to deliver robust design solutions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality and product standards throughout development
