About the Company
Our client, an established public-sector heritage organisation, is seeking an External Affairs Manager to lead regional stakeholder and political engagement across the Midlands.
About the Role
Working within the External Affairs team and alongside regional colleagues, the role will support the delivery of a national engagement strategy and wider organisational priorities. The successful candidate will build influential relationships with political, public-sector, development and heritage stakeholders, while helping colleagues communicate the value and wider benefits of the historic environment. The position offers significant scope to shape regional engagement, influence local decision-makers and identify opportunities for public and professional communications through traditional and social media. Flexible working options may be considered, including job sharing, part-time working, compressed hours and alternative working arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the organisation’s national engagement strategy and strategic priorities.
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key regional stakeholders and political audiences.
- Engage with senior local authority officers, elected leaders, mayors, MPs and representatives from the development and heritage sectors.
- Equip and support colleagues to engage effectively with local decision-makers.
- Communicate the social, economic and community value of the historic environment.
- Influence stakeholders to support positive outcomes for people and places across the region.
- Collaborate with regional teams, internal colleagues, local communities and external partners.
- Identify opportunities for public and professional engagement through the media and social media.
- Initiate and lead projects within an agreed strategic framework.
- Manage competing priorities and respond effectively to multiple demands.

Qualifications
- Experience of stakeholder engagement, external affairs or public affairs in support of strategic priorities.
- Experience of influencing and collaborating with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including local communities.
- Experience of initiating and leading projects within a strategic framework.
- Demonstrable ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple demands.

Pay range and compensation package
Salary: £39,590–£41,761 per annum
