Job Role: External Cleaning Operative

Working Hours

  • 45 hours per week, as per site rota (including weekends)

Pay

  • £14.80 per hour

Overview

Join the team helping to maintain one of London's newest and most exciting destinations.

Anchor Group Services is recruiting External Cleaning Operatives for The Elephant, a landmark mixed-use development at the heart of Elephant & Castle. Bringing together retail, residential and public spaces, The Elephant is set to become a vibrant destination where residents, visitors, retailers and communities come together.

This is a unique opportunity to join a flagship London mobilisation from day one, helping to establish standards, culture and service excellence across a brand-new development. As an External Cleaning Operative, you will play a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance and presentation of the development's external areas and public spaces, helping to create a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment for everyone who visits, lives or works at The Elephant.

About the Role

As an External Cleaning Operative, you will play a key role in maintaining the appearance and presentation of The Elephant's external areas. Working outdoors, you will carry out a range of cleaning and maintenance duties to help create a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and occupiers.

You will be a visible ambassador for both Anchor Group Services and The Elephant, taking pride in your work and helping to ensure the development always makes a positive impression.

Duties Include:

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation across all external areas of the development, including walkways, entrances and public spaces.
  • Carry out a range of external cleaning duties, including litter picking, sweeping, pressure washing and graffiti removal.
  • Respond promptly to spillages, hazards and cleanliness issues, helping to maintain a safe environment for all site users.
  • Support waste management and recycling activities, ensuring bins, recycling stations and collection areas are maintained to a high standard.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and machinery safely and effectively, in accordance with training and site procedures.
  • Report defects, damage, hazards and maintenance concerns, helping to ensure the development remains safe, clean and presentable.
  • Support site activities, busy periods and seasonal maintenance requirements, contributing to the smooth operation of the development.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly approach at all times, supporting site teams and acting as an ambassador for the client and company.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within cleaning, external cleaning, facilities management or a similar environment would be preferred.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in high standards.
  • Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Physically capable of undertaking an active role involving walking, lifting and outdoor cleaning duties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
  • Experience operating pressure washers or mechanical cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH requirements.
