12-month FTC
London - Hybrid Working
JSS is partnered with a global insurer in recruiting a Manager to join their External Reporting team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. A role built for someone who genuinely enjoys the technical side of accounting and wants to be the go-to person auditors and regulators come to with the hard questions.
Responsibilities
- Acting as the technical accounting expert within a busy finance function — assessing complex transactions, new standards and regulatory change, and translating them into clear guidance for the business
- Getting involved in the accounting side of new deals and investments as they come in, making sure they're treated and documented properly
- Being a trusted point of contact for auditors and regulators on the trickier technical questions
- Contributing to statutory reporting and the wider financial reporting cycle, with a close eye on the numbers behind the numbers
- Looking for smarter, more efficient ways of doing things as the reporting function continues to evolve

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
