The Opportunity

Do you enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in people’s daily lives? We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team as an Extra Care Catering Assistant/Cleaner at Llys Glan Yr Afon Extra Care Scheme in Newtown.

This dual-role opportunity gives you the chance to work as a Part-time Cleaner or Catering Assistant, depending on the needs of the scheme.

Whilst the position supports both areas, the 12 hours are allocated for the Cleaner role, with the opportunity to pick up Catering Assistant shifts to support any gaps that need to be filled due to annual leave or sickness cover.

What will you be doing?

Depending on which role you are working in, your duties will include:

As a Cleaner

  • Carrying out routine cleaning of communal areas such as lounges, dining rooms, and bathrooms – there is no cleaning of resident’s rooms required for this role.
  • Following cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.
  • Ensuring a safe, tidy, and pleasant environment for residents and visitors.

As a Catering Assistant

  • Serving residents meals
  • Helping with setting up and clearing the dining area.
  • Supporting residents with meal choices and ensuring a welcoming dining experience.
  • Helping in the kitchen with small prep jobs such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and making sandwiches.
  • Helping to keep the kitchen area and restaurant area clean and tidy
  • Following food hygiene and safety standards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
