Microsoft Fabric Architect – Contract

Location: Milton Keynes – hybrid
Day Rate: £370 per day
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Working Pattern: One day per week onsite

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Fabric Architect to lead the architecture and delivery of an enterprise-scale analytics platform. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise across Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Data Engineering, Power BI, and enterprise data governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement enterprise-scale analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Define platform standards, governance models, and operating frameworks.
  • Design Fabric capacities, domains, workspaces, and pipelines.
  • Lead migrations from Azure Data Lake, Synapse, SQL, and legacy Power BI platforms.
  • Build solutions using Fabric Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, and Dataflows Gen2.
  • Implement Medallion architecture, Delta tables, and reusable ingestion frameworks.
  • Design OneLake architecture, shortcuts, security layers, and storage policies.
  • Implement RBAC, sensitivity labels, data lineage, and governance controls.
  • Build optimized Power BI semantic models using Direct Lake.
  • Manage and optimize large-scale datasets for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams.

  • Deep hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience.
  • OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, and KQL Databases.
  • Fabric Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Spark Notebooks, and Copy Jobs.
  • Medallion architecture and Delta Lake.
  • PySpark, Python, and SQL.
  • Power BI, DAX, M Query, and Direct Lake.
  • Azure AD or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Data security, governance, and workspace management.
  • Enterprise-scale data platform architecture.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills.

Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Power BI certifications and experience implementing CI/CD for Fabric and Power BI would be beneficial.
