Fabric Engineer / Handyperson

Location: Newcastle
Rate: £14.00 per hour PAYE
Duration: 2-month temporary contract
Hours: Monday to Friday

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our FM client for a Fabric Engineer / Handyperson to work at a busy leisure centre in Newcastle.

This is a temporary position providing cover for approximately 2 months, with the successful candidate responsible for carrying out a range of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across the leisure centre
  • Complete general handyman and building maintenance tasks
  • Undertake minor repairs to doors, locks, fixtures, fittings, and general building fabric
  • Carry out basic plumbing, carpentry, and decorating works where required
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and complete works efficiently
  • Complete planned maintenance tasks in line with the site's requirements
  • Identify defects and report any issues requiring further attention
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
  • Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance activities
  • Work professionally around members of the public and site staff

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working as a Fabric Engineer, Maintenance Operative, Handyperson, or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.

  • You should be confident carrying out general building maintenance and minor repairs, with the ability to work independently and manage reactive tasks effectively.
  • Previous experience within facilities management or commercial maintenance environments would be advantageous.
