Fabric Engineer

Contract: Temporary - till 30/10/2026
Working Hours: Mon-Friday 08:00-17:00

About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Fabric Engineer to play a key role in maintaining an exceptional workplace environment.

This is a hands-on position focused on site presentation, facilities maintenance, minor works, and brand standards. You will act as an ambassador for our client, ensuring the premises consistently meet high standards of appearance, safety, functionality, and operational excellence.

You will work closely with client representatives and internal teams to identify issues, complete repairs and improvements, and ensure customer-facing and operational areas are always presented to the highest possible standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a site standards champion, proactively maintaining and improving all visible and functional aspects of the premises.
  • Conduct regular site walks, inspections, and audits to identify defects, presentation issues, and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure the site consistently meets agreed standards for presentation, functionality, and brand excellence.
  • Liaise closely with client representatives regarding maintenance, repairs, site presentation, and planned works.
  • Complete fabric and finish repairs, including walls, floors, ceilings, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Repair and replace floor and wall coverings where required.
  • Carry out ceiling tile repairs and replacements.
  • Undertake general building, installation, and remedial works as required.
  • Ensure all customer-facing areas are clean, presentable, fully functional, and ready to deliver an excellent visitor and employee experience.
  • Take ownership of minor projects and improvement works that enhance the site environment.
  • Complete tasks within agreed timescales and provide clear updates on progress.
  • Undertake site surveys and ensure all planned works are completed in accordance with relevant Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Use PDA/digital systems to record completed works, communicate updates, and maintain accurate job information.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and act as a positive role model for safe working practices.
  • Carry out additional reasonable duties as directed by the line manager, which may include jet washing, decorating, pothole repairs, and other general site maintenance activities.

About You

The successful candidate will be a practical, proactive, and customer-focused individual who takes pride in their work and has a strong eye for detail.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, property services, or a similar hands-on environment.
  • Good knowledge of general building repairs and maintenance.
  • Experience working with floor, wall, and ceiling finishes.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • The ability to identify defects and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high presentation standards.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise professionally with client representatives.
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with wider teams.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience using digital job management systems, PDAs, or similar technology.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to undertake a broad range of maintenance and minor works.
