Fabrication & Welding Lecturer

Permanent | Full Time
Location: Cumbria
Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 per annum

Are you an experienced fabrication and welding professional looking to pass on your skills to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in Cumbria as a Fabrication & Welding Lecturer, delivering engaging and practical learning to students at a range of levels. This is an opportunity to bring your industry background into the classroom and workshop, helping learners build the skills and confidence they need for a career in fabrication and welding.

You'll work alongside a team of experienced tutors, supporting students from school leavers to apprentices and mature learners, and helping shape the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality theoretical and practical fabrication and welding lessons.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Preparing students for industry-recognised qualifications and assessments.
  • Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop environment in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Integrating up-to-date industry practice and standards into teaching.
  • Supporting the development of course materials and schemes of work.
  • Engaging in continuous professional development to keep skills and knowledge current.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 Fabrication & Welding
  • Significant industry experience in fabrication and welding
  • Relevant trade qualifications in fabrication and welding
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage learners of different abilities
  • A commitment to safe working practices

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A recognised teaching qualification (such as PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent)
  • Previous experience teaching or training in a further education setting

If you do not yet hold a teaching qualification, don't let that put you off applying, full training and support can be provided to the right candidate.
