Wage
- £16,224 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
- Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)
- Pay will be reviewed upon performance and successful completion of apprenticeship
Training course
- Engineering operative (level 2)

- Monday–Thursday 07:15–16:00
- Friday–07:30–14:00

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Your training and responsibilities as a Production Apprentice, will include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Carry out welding activities including use of a MIG welder, and other ancillary machinery and equipment
- Creating fabrications, such as metal balustrades, staircases and handrails
- Accurately follow job cards and update accordingly
- Understand and read engineering drawings/symbols
- Ensure correct marking up of component parts
- Work to quality standards required for the components
- Weld joints in accordance with quality requirements
- Undertake final inspections of finished components/products
- Assisting with warehousing duties and packaging goods
- Maintaining a clean, organised and productive work area for colleagues and yourself
- When trained, ensure job timings are met/exceeded

The successful candidate will continue their studies with apprenticeship specialists, RNN Group at one of their campuses on a day release format, giving you the training and support you need to become an all-rounded and successful Engineer.

Desirable qualifications
- GCSE in:
- Maths & English (grade A*-C/9-4)
- Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
