BAE Plater/Fabricator - Glasgow - 12 Months Contract
Role Overview 🔧
We are looking for experienced and skilled Plater/Fabricators. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the fabrication, assembly, installation and outfitting of ship structures.
Experienced with 🔧
- Marking off materials from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Fabricating and assembling ship structures including shells, decks, bulkheads, frames and longitudinals.
- Fitting and fairing steelwork using appropriate fairing aids.
- Manufacturing ship components such as ladders, seating, panels and false flooring.
- Installing and outfitting ship equipment including hatches, watertight doors, equipment seating and flooring systems.
- Operating fabrication machinery including rolling, flanging and cutting equipment such as guillotines, croppers and mechanical saws.
- Supporting vessel launch preparations and sea trials, including the manufacture of slipways, shores and batons.
- Carrying out ship docking activities, plate preparation, oxy-fuel cutting, grinding, drilling, lock fitting and pressure testing.

Requirements ✅
- Strong understanding of fabrication and installation drawings.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and shipbuilding processes.
- Sound understanding of quality standards, tolerances and workmanship requirements.
- Strong awareness of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) practices.
- Proven experience within a shipbuilding, marine engineering or heavy fabrication environment.
- Must have completed an apprenticeship or have trade papers
