About The Role

At Penny Tree School, we're looking for a proactive and dependable Facilities Assistant to help keep our specialist school safe, welcoming and running at its very best.

This is much more than a maintenance role. Every repair you complete, every improvement you make and every safety check you carry out helps create an environment where children and young people can learn with confidence and where colleagues can do their best work.

If you're practical, organised and take pride in a job well done, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the school buildings and grounds.
  • Complete repairs, decorating and general improvements to keep our environment safe, functional and welcoming.
  • Carry out routine inspections, identifying and resolving maintenance or health and safety issues before they become problems.
  • Support fire safety, compliance checks and site security to help keep everyone safe.
  • Work alongside contractors and suppliers, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and materials safely in line with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and assist with risk assessments and compliance documentation.
  • Respond quickly to day-to-day maintenance requests, helping ensure the school always operates smoothly.

About You

  • Has experience in facilities, maintenance, caretaking or a similar hands-on role.
  • Can confidently carry out a range of general repairs, such as decorating, basic plumbing, joinery or maintenance tasks.
  • Understands Health & Safety requirements and enjoys working safely and responsibly.
  • Is proactive, reliable and able to manage a varied workload independently.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards and paying attention to detail.
  • Works well as part of a friendly team and communicates effectively with colleagues and contractors.
  • UK Driving Licence required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
