Facilities Operations Assistant – Birmingham
Virgin Media Contract | ISS
ISS is looking for a proactive and hands-on Facilities Operations Assistant to join our team supporting the prestigious Virgin Media contract in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining workplace operations, customer service, events support and basic maintenance within a busy corporate environment.
As a key member of the onsite facilities team, you will play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming and well-maintained workplace experience for employees, visitors and clients. You’ll be a visible presence across the site, supporting the smooth running of daily operations and ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
This role offers great variety — no two days will be the same. From supporting events and workplace setups, assisting with maintenance activities, carrying out building checks and providing front-of-house support, you’ll be at the heart of delivering an excellent workplace experience for one of ISS’s key clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Support event setups, room configurations, AV requirements and furniture moves.
- Provide a professional front-of-house presence, welcoming visitors and supporting colleagues.
- Maintain excellent workplace presentation standards across the site.
- Carry out basic maintenance tasks, inspections and defect reporting.
- Support contractors and planned works across the building.
- Assist with workplace compliance, risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Support emergency procedures, fire safety activities and general site operations.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and customer-focused, with a willingness to get involved across a wide range of facilities activities. You may come from a background in facilities management, hospitality, customer service, building services or a hands-on operational role and will be comfortable working independently while being part of a wider team.

You’ll bring:

Essential training includes SIA licence, ladder safety, manual handling and low-level electrical safety awareness, with first aid and fire marshal experience desirable.
