Facilities Assistant (Part Time)

Location: Kent's Cavern, Torquay

About The Role

This is a newly created position designed to strengthen the day-to-day care and presentation of Kent's Cavern. It offers the opportunity to make a real impact by helping shape the role, maintaining our unique heritage attraction to a high standard, and ensuring visitors enjoy a safe, clean and welcoming experience.

This is a part-time position with a minimum 10-hour per week contract. There will be regular opportunities to work additional hours based on the needs of the business, including supporting maintenance projects, seasonal demand and operational requirements.

Job Purpose

To ensure Kent's Cavern and its grounds are maintained to a consistently high standard, providing a safe, clean and welcoming environment for visitors and colleagues through general maintenance, cleaning and groundskeeping duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across the site.
  • Maintain gardens, pathways, car parks and external areas, including mowing, weeding, hedge trimming and litter picking.
  • Clean and maintain public toilets, visitor areas and staff facilities to a consistently high standard.
  • Replenish consumables and ensure all public areas remain clean, tidy and presentable throughout the day.
  • Assist with planned maintenance, event set-ups and seasonal projects.
  • Identify, report and where appropriate rectify maintenance issues and health and safety hazards.
  • Use tools, equipment and cleaning products safely, following company procedures.
  • Support colleagues across the business where required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous maintenance, facilities, estates or handyman experience is desirable.
  • Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience would be advantageous.
  • Good practical skills with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Hours
