Facilities Assistant

Windsor Forest Colleges Group is looking for a Facilities Assistant to join our Estates team at the Berkshire College of Agriculture campus. This is a full time, permanent position working 39 hours a week, all year round (Monday to Thursday 6:30am to 3:00pm and Friday 6:30am to 2:00pm).

The actual salary ranges from £26,860.46 (G17) up to £28,758.81 (G19) per annum depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time equivalent salary of £25,483.00 to £27,284.00 for 37 hours per week.

Facilities Assistant

Working as part of a dedicated Estates team at our BCA campus, you will help deliver essential operational, maintenance and compliance support, ensuring our buildings, plant and systems remain safe, efficient and well maintained. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will play an important part in maintaining and developing high-quality facilities that support our students, staff and visitors every day.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Configuring heating, electrical, lighting and building management systems
  • Assisting with mechanical and electrical repairs, servicing and improvements across the college estate
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance
  • Supporting statutory compliance activities, including fire safety checks, Legionella management, biomass boilers, Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and emergency lighting
  • Managing helpdesk requests through the Facilities Management system
  • Preparing rooms for teaching and events
  • Carrying out porterage duties
  • Assisting with fuel supply management
  • Responsible for the daily opening and closing of college buildings
  • Responding to fire and intruder alarms
  • Working closely with external contractors carrying out works on site
