Job Purpose
The Facilities Director holds accountability for the strategic direction, operational delivery, and commercial performance of a diverse Facilities Management portfolio across multiple sectors.
Managing a team of operational and functional leaders, the Facilities Director ensures the provision of safe, compliant, and client-focused services whilst maintaining financial performance, operational excellence, and long-term client partnerships.
This role is integral to delivering Dalkia's growth strategy, advancing service innovation, and upholding the highest standards of governance, safety, and sustainability across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with business and client objectives.
- Direct the Facilities Management portfolio to achieve business plans, growth targets, and profitability objectives.
- Contribute to business development activities, including contract retention, rebids, and identifying new opportunities.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Operational Management
- Provide leadership across a multi-site Facilities Management portfolio.
- Ensure all Hard FM services are delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Monitor performance against KPIs, SLAs, and client expectations.
- Ensure statutory, regulatory, and contractual compliance is maintained at all times.
- Direct service improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and key stakeholders.
- Serve as executive sponsor for key contracts and strategic accounts.
- Direct governance meetings, business reviews, and contract performance discussions.
- Position Dalkia as a reliable long-term partner.
Commercial and Financial Performance
- Maintain full accountability for portfolio profit and loss performance.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
- Identify opportunities for margin improvement, operational efficiencies, and revenue growth.
- Ensure robust commercial management across all contracts.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Finance teams to manage risk and maximise value.
Health, Safety, and Sustainability
- Advocate for Dalkia's People First culture.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
- Direct investigations into significant incidents and ensure lessons learned are implemented.
- Advance carbon reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives across the portfolio.
Leadership and People Development
- Direct, mentor, and develop senior operational teams.
- Establish high-performing and engaged teams through coaching and succession planning.
- Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across the business.
- Advance employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.

Person Specification
Essential
- Substantial senior leadership experience within Facilities Management or Integrated Facilities Management.
- Proven track record managing large, complex FM portfolios across multiple sites and sectors.
- Experience operating within PFI/PPP contractual environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with previous profit and loss responsibility.
- Demonstrable success directing operational teams and delivering service excellence.
- Extensive knowledge of Hard FM and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience managing high-value contracts and key client relationships.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing capabilities.
- Experience delivering business transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Degree qualified in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- IWFM Level 6 or above.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience within Education, Healthcare, Local Government, or Critical Environments.
- Experience overseeing lifecycle and asset management programmes.
