Qualified Trades Person Starting Salary (Band 4)

Pay £38,495 (comprising starting basic annual salary of £32,873 + unsocial hours shift allowance £3,747 + On-Call allowance £1,875) WTE pro rata, per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week). After one year of satisfactory service, basic annual salary may rise to £34,254.

Standard (Non Qualified Trade) Starting salary (Band 3)

Pay £35,531 (comprising starting basic annual salary of £30,212 + unsocial hours shift allowance of £3,444 + On-Call allowance of £1,875) WTE pro rata, per annum (based on 37.5 hours per week). After one year of satisfactory service, basic annual salary may rise to £31,363.

Permanent / Full Time Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Sunday (working a 5 over 7 rota)

Do you have a passion for maintenance and want to use your skills for a greater purpose? St Columba’s Hospice is looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Assistant to help us maintain a peaceful and supportive environment for our patients and their families. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a team that ensures every aspect of our premises, from the main hospice to our charity retail shops, is functioning perfectly.

The Role

In this role you will contribute to the maintenance of Hospice estates, to maintain optimum environmental, accommodation and support service standards within the Hospice guidelines, safety standards and budgetary constraints. Responsibilities will include:

  • Help maintain and repair a wide range of buildings, equipment and systems.
  • Join a small, friendly team that works collaboratively to manage the day-to-day facilities operations.
  • From medical equipment to office moves, you'll help keep our facilities running smoothly.

  • Has a strong technical background in maintenance, with the ability to work confidently on diverse systems.
  • Is compassionate, discreet, and understands the sensitive nature of our hospice environment.
  • Is a reliable team player who is comfortable working with both colleagues and external contractors.
  • Thrives on variety and enjoys the challenge of a role where no two days are the same.
  • Has a valid driving license
