Facilities Maintenance Manager
At PizzaExpress, great restaurant experiences depend on everything working as it should. We’re looking for a commercially minded Facilities Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance activity across our restaurant estate, improve equipment uptime and help keep our teams serving great pizza without disruption.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll become the key point of contact between our operational teams and facilities management service partners, making sure planned, reactive and compliance-related work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. You’ll focus on improving first-time fixes, identifying preventative maintenance opportunities and reducing restaurant hours lost through maintenance-related closures.
Day to day, you’ll:
- Monitor maintenance activity through our CAFM system, challenging performance against agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Maintain the capital investment plan for key restaurant assets, including pizza ovens, refrigeration and essential HVAC equipment.
- Work closely with Restaurant General Managers, Territory Managers and the wider Property and Operations teams to prioritise activity and manage business-critical issues.
- Build strong relationships with facilities management partners, contractors, surveyors and external project managers.
- Oversee larger quoted works and restaurant-specific maintenance projects, including activity delivered under CDM regulations.
- Provide clear and regular updates to stakeholders, including practical contingencies and local workarounds where necessary.
- Visit restaurants to understand maintenance challenges and help teams get the best from the available maintenance service.
- Introduce benchmarking and auditing processes that improve performance, value and accountability across the supply chain.
- Support refurbishment projects and new restaurant openings, ensuring maintenance, warranty and asset lifecycle requirements are considered.
- Partner with Finance to support period and annual budget planning and keep maintenance expenditure under control.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
