Job Description
Location: Cherry Tree House, 49 Dobbins Lane, Wendover
Join us at the beginning of something special!
Salveo Care is a family-owned care provider based in Wendover. We currently operate Cherry Tree House, our established 20-bed residential care home, and later this year we'll be opening Wendover Manor, a new purpose-built 55-bed care home just a short distance away.
We're looking for an experienced Facilities & Maintenance Manager to join us ahead of opening and take ownership of the facilities and maintenance function as we make that transition.
This isn't simply about fixing things when they break. We're looking for someone who takes real pride in their environment, notices the small things, plans ahead and understands the importance of keeping a care home safe, compliant, beautifully maintained and running smoothly.
About The Role
Initially, you'll work across Cherry Tree House and the commissioning of Wendover Manor, giving you the opportunity to get to know our residents, team and way of working while becoming familiar with the new building.
As we move into Wendover Manor, you'll take responsibility for the maintenance and condition of the building, grounds, plant, equipment and facilities. You'll lead the Facilities & Maintenance team and oversee planned and reactive maintenance, building compliance, contractors, statutory servicing and the systems needed to keep everything running safely and effectively.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Leading and developing the Facilities & Maintenance team and ensuring appropriate seven-day cover.
- Managing planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Overseeing building safety, statutory inspections, servicing and testing.
- Coordinating contractors, suppliers and external professionals.
- Managing building defects, warranties and follow-up during the new home's early life.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance, asset and compliance records.
- Supporting emergency and out-of-hours facilities arrangements.
- Managing maintenance budgets, resources and forward planning.
- Keeping the building and grounds looking and feeling exceptional.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll also be part of the wider management team, so we're looking for someone who sees facilities as more than a list of jobs. You'll be visible around the home, build relationships with residents and colleagues and take ownership of the details that influence people's experience of where they live and work.
Who We're Looking For
You'll have relevant experience within facilities, property or building maintenance, with previous experience managing or supervising others.
You'll be organised, practical and solution-focused, with good knowledge of health & safety and building compliance and experience managing contractors and planned/reactive maintenance. You'll have high standards, excellent attention to detail and the confidence to deal calmly with unexpected problems.
Experience within care, healthcare, hospitality or another regulated environment would be beneficial, but just as important is your attitude. We want someone who is proactive rather than reactive, takes genuine pride in their work and understands that Wendover Manor won't simply be a building to maintain - it will be someone's home.
