Here at GXO, we're looking for a Facilities Maintenance Operative to join our team at our River Island site in Milton Keynes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong maintenance background who is eager to develop further within a fast-paced distribution environment. Your main focus is to ensure all planned preventative maintenance is completed as per schedule to the required standard (no electrical unless qualified plus 18th edition wiring). A typical day will include plumbing works, physical works such as digging footings or moving equipment around the site and ensuring MHE is tip top condition for operational needs.
Once passed the probationary period, you’ll join the on-call rota currently 1 week in 3 where any out of hours site breakdowns will be reported to the maintenance team for urgent action - further details can be discussed at interview.
This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 plus call outs.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £27,248.00 per annum (call out is paid at £50 per call out) and 28 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays). What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Complete planned preventative maintenance activities to schedule and required standard
- Carry out plumbing repairs and small electrical works, including wiring and lighting maintenance
- Support site infrastructure projects, including physical maintenance tasks and equipment moves
- Ensure material handling equipment (MHE) remains safe, operational, and fit for purpose
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota following successful completion of probation and training
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- Previous experience in plumbing or general/facilities maintenance work
- Level 2 qualification in a relevant maintenance discipline (Level 3 preferred)
- Familiar with COSHH, LOLER & PUWER regs
- IOSH managing safely
- A proactive "can-do" attitude and willingness to learn new skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively on your own initiative
- A full, clean driving licence and flexibility to support on-call requirements
