Facilities Maintenance Technician
Culton Companies | Trussville, AL | Full-time
Culton Companies is an exhibit design and fabrication studio. We need a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep our facility running — repairs, preventative maintenance, and general building upkeep.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Handle day-to-day repairs and maintenance: plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, power tools, general building systems
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
- Troubleshoot issues and know when to bring in a vendor
- Help with equipment moves, shop reconfigurations, and minor installations
- Coordinate outside contractors (HVAC, electrical, landscaping, etc.)
- Keep the facility clean, safe, and running smoothly
- Occasionally assist with a couple of ownership-related properties/vehicles (light, infrequent — not a daily part of the role)
WHAT YOU BRING
Required:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on building facilities and maintenance experience
- Strong troubleshooting ability and mechanical aptitude across a variety of building systems
- Comfortable performing physical repairs and hands-on tasks every day — this is not a desk role
- Experience coordinating outside vendors and service providers
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong personal accountability
- High degree of discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness — you'll work directly with ownership
- Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, professional demeanor
- Valid driver's license

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
