The Role:
Stoke on Trent City Council are recruiting a Facilities Management Operative to join the Markets, Cleaning and Facilities Management Team.
You will deliver a high quality, efficient and responsive support service for nominated building operations, ensuring buildings are consistently safe, secure, clean, well maintained and fully operational for staff, contractors, partners, tenants, customers and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for opening and securing nominated buildings, covering both shifts and ensuring all relevant procedures are followed
- Organise, maintain and manage files and documentation relating to nominated buildings, ensuring records are accurate, up to date and easily accessible
- Act as the main point of contact for contractors working within the buildings, ensuring they are appropriately signed in and out and comply with site procedures
- Respond promptly to immediate issues within nominated buildings, carrying out minor maintenance and repairs where appropriate and escalating more serious issues to the relevant team
- Liaise effectively with cleaning and events teams to ensure rooms and facilities within nominated buildings are clean, prepared, organised and fit for use
- Monitor and manage the appropriate disposal of general waste and recycling, ensuring environmental and organisational procedures are followed
- Maintain a safe, secure and well organised environment across all nominated buildings
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and external teams to ensure the smooth day to day operation of the buildings
About You:
- Be a confident and professional individual with excellent communication and customer service skills and able to build positive relationships
- Be comfortable using IT and digital systems
- Adaptable to changing priorities and willing to work flexibly including evenings and weekends
- Have strong awareness of health and safety requirements, you will be able to safely undertake manual handling tasks and support the effective operation of buildings and facilities
- Be a reliable team player, taking pride in delivering high standards of service
- Be able to travel across Stoke on Trent
