Facilities Management Site Surveyor

Location: Nationwide / Field Based

Pay: £17.00 per hour + travel expenses

Contract: Casual Worker – assignments offered as required

Reporting to: Business Development Director

The Role

Tenon FM is looking for a professional, organised, and highly observant Facilities Management Site Surveyor to support our Business Development function on a casual basis. Working closely with our Business Development Director, you will travel to prospective and new client locations across the UK to undertake detailed site surveys and gather the information required to support our tendering, pricing, and mobilisation processes.

This is a hands-on, field-based role. You will be trusted to represent Tenon professionally on site, ask the right questions, observe how the site operates, and accurately capture the information our Business Development team needs to develop an effective service solution. Assignments will be offered on an as-required basis, making the role particularly suitable for someone who enjoys varied field-based work and has the flexibility to travel to different locations across the UK.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Attending client and prospective client sites throughout the UK on behalf of the Business Development team.
  • Conducting structured site surveys and walkthroughs across a range of commercial environments.
  • Taking comprehensive notes, photographs, and other relevant site information.
  • Recording site layouts, operational requirements, access arrangements, facilities, and other information relevant to the proposed service.
  • Asking appropriate questions of client/site representatives to ensure important information is captured.
  • Identifying site-specific considerations that may affect staffing, equipment, service delivery, mobilisation, or pricing.
  • Completing clear and accurate site survey documentation and reports following each visit.
  • Providing photographs and supporting evidence in an organised and professional format.
  • Highlighting potential challenges, risks, or opportunities identified during the survey.
  • Liaising closely with the Business Development Director and wider bid/commercial team to ensure they have the information required to prepare accurate and competitive proposals.
  • Where required, revisiting sites or obtaining additional information to support clarification during the tender process.
  • Representing Tenon FM professionally and confidently when dealing with clients and other stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

You do not necessarily need to be a qualified surveyor. This is an FM operational site-survey role, and we are primarily looking for someone who understands how to look at a site, gather information accurately, and communicate what they have found.

You should be:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident attending client sites independently.
  • Comfortable speaking with clients, site managers, and operational teams.
  • Observant and able to identify details that others might overlook.
  • Able to take comprehensive and accurate notes during site visits.
  • A clear and competent written communicator.
  • Comfortable producing structured reports following site surveys.
  • Confident using a smartphone, tablet, and/or laptop to capture photographs, information, and documentation.
  • Able to manage your own time and travel arrangements effectively.
  • Flexible and willing to travel extensively throughout the UK when assignments require it.
  • Professional in your appearance and approach when representing Tenon FM.

Previous experience within Facilities Management, cleaning, security, building services, operational management, account management, or site surveying would be highly advantageous. Experience supporting FM tenders, mobilisations, site surveys, or costing exercises would be particularly valuable.

Travel

This is a nationwide field-based role, and applicants must be comfortable travelling to client locations across the UK. Travel expenses incurred in connection with authorised assignments will be reimbursed in accordance with the Company's expenses arrangements. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would therefore be highly desirable.

Working Arrangements

This position will initially be offered on a casual worker basis at £17.00 per hour. There are no guaranteed hours. Assignments will be offered according to business requirements and may vary in location, duration, and frequency. Some assignments may involve significant travel, and applicants should therefore have sufficient flexibility to undertake nationwide site visits when required.

Why Tenon FM?

Tenon FM delivers facilities management services across the UK, working with organisations across a diverse range of sectors and environments. This role offers an opportunity to work directly alongside our Business Development function and gain exposure to the early stages of new FM opportunities, from initial site assessment through to tender development and mobilisation. For someone with the right operational eye and attention to detail, it is an opportunity to play an important part in ensuring that the solutions we put forward to prospective clients are based on a genuine understanding of their sites and requirements.

Apply

If you have experience within Facilities Management or another relevant operational environment, enjoy working independently, and have the flexibility to travel throughout the UK, we would like to hear from you.

Please apply with an up-to-date CV outlining your relevant experience and availability.
