Facilities Manager
Location: Multi-site role across a portfolio of schools
About The Role
Dalkia UK is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead technical facilities management, statutory compliance and estates assurance across a multi-site education contract. Reporting to the Contract Manager, you'll ensure buildings, assets and maintenance services are safe, compliant and reliable.
Working closely with the Senior Facilities Manager, you'll turn compliance findings, estate condition information and technical risks into practical maintenance priorities, lifecycle plans and improvement programmes. This highly mobile role requires a visible presence across the estate, combining hands-on technical oversight with informed planning and clear client advice.
You'll be supporting schools through the delivery of safe, compliant and well-maintained learning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the statutory compliance programme, ensuring inspections, maintenance and remedial actions are planned, completed and supported by accurate, auditable evidence.
- Assess estate condition, asset performance and technical risks, developing prioritised maintenance, lifecycle and investment recommendations.
- Oversee planned, reactive and remedial maintenance, setting clear standards for engineers and contractors and verifying the safety, quality and completion of work.
- Lead technical audits, risk reviews and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are progressed and significant concerns are escalated.
- Build trusted relationships with client and school stakeholders, providing clear estates advice, defining works requirements and supporting procurement, quotations and delivery.
- Use CAFM and performance data to maintain reliable assurance reporting, identify improvements and develop team capability through technical guidance and mentoring.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
