Position: Facilities Manager
Location: Tilewood School – Buckinghamshire, MK18 5AN
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | 52 Weeks

About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the founding team at Tilewood School, a brand-new specialist school opening in Buckinghamshire.
We are looking for an experienced, proactive and hands-on Facilities Manager to join our team and play a vital role in creating safe, welcoming and high-quality spaces where pupils and staff can thrive. This is more than a facilities role — it’s an opportunity to lead, innovate and make a visible difference every day. You'll take ownership of the school environment, ensuring our facilities operate efficiently, safely and to the highest standards.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. Alongside leading facilities services, you’ll also play an active role in caretaking duties, carrying out repairs, troubleshooting maintenance issues and ensuring the school environment remains safe, welcoming and fully operational.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the school's facilities management, ensuring the site is safe, compliant, well-maintained and presented to the highest standards.
- Carry out hands-on maintenance, repairs and caretaking duties, responding promptly to issues to ensure the school remains fully operational.
- Develop, coordinate and monitor planned, preventative and reactive maintenance programmes, managing contractors and specialist service providers where required.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, fire safety regulations, COSHH, safeguarding requirements and all statutory building compliance obligations.
- Manage facilities budgets, procurement, contractors and supplier relationships, delivering high-quality services and excellent value for money.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, compliance checks and audits, maintaining accurate records and implementing improvements where required.
- Lead, motivate and develop the facilities team, fostering a proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused culture.
- Take ownership of site security, emergency procedures and business continuity arrangements, ensuring the school is prepared to respond effectively to any situation.
- Play a pivotal role in preparing our brand-new school for opening, creating and maintaining an outstanding learning environment that is welcoming, safe and inspiring for pupils, colleagues and visitors.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to support the school's vision, contributing to the ongoing development of a high-quality educational environment.

About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Has proven experience managing facilities, maintenance or estates services, ideally within education, care or a similar environment.
- Enjoys a hands-on role and is confident carrying out general maintenance, repairs and decorating.
- Has excellent knowledge of Health & Safety, fire safety, COSHH and building compliance.
- Is an organised and supportive leader who can motivate teams and manage contractors effectively.
- Has excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Is proactive, reliable and takes pride in delivering high standards every day.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.

About Us
Tilewood School is an exciting new addition to the Options Autism family, provisionally set to open its doors in April 2027. Designed to support up to 72 students aged 5 to 16, the school will offer a nurturing and inclusive learning environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of its pupils. For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.
