Summary
Are you committed to caring for historic buildings and creating safe, high-quality environments for everyone who visits and works here? We're looking for a Facilities Manager to join the team.
You'll play a pivotal role in safeguarding and developing this extraordinary estate, providing visible leadership across facilities management to ensure our built assets remain safe, compliant, resilient and ready to support ambitious plans for visitor experience, conservation and sustainable growth.
We are looking for an organised and proactive leader who can provide professional oversight of facilities management across the estate, ensuring our properties and operations consistently meet Health & Safety, Environmental, Fire and Security standards. You'll be based across the estate, with this role requiring a regular on-property presence. The role will be expected to support operational priorities, including on weekends, bank holidays and peak visitor periods.

What You'll Be Doing
As our Facilities Manager, you'll lead the delivery of planned preventative maintenance, reactive works, compliance programmes and estate improvement projects. You'll oversee the management of facilities-related investment and capital works activity, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, effectively and in line with organisational priorities.
You'll provide leadership to the facilities team, creating a culture of high standards, accountability and continuous improvement. As a key member of the property leadership team, you'll work closely with departmental heads and specialist advisers to support strategic decision-making, manage operational risk and ensure resources are used effectively across the estate.

You'll act as the property's lead for facilities management, overseeing contractor performance, managing technical compliance and ensuring robust maintenance planning is in place. You'll hold accountability for the safe and effective management of the estate's facilities, infrastructure and support services, balancing immediate operational needs with longer-term estate priorities.
You'll also be part of the duty manager team, taking responsibility for the smooth operation of the property during opening hours and acting as the senior point of contact in response to incidents, emergencies, significant customer issues or operational challenges.
Who We're Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you’re:
- experienced in managing facilities, or supervising, and looking to develop your career
- keenly interested in looking after buildings and assets to a high standard
- skilled in managing relations with contractors
- focused on detail, especially to do with health and safety and compliance
- knowledgeable of environmental and climate initiatives
- able to manage large maintenance budgets and make sure projects run smoothly.
