Wickham Micro Ltd is a leading provider of GMP and GLP microbiology, environmental monitoring, and sterility testing services to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Quality, compliance, and customer service are at the heart of everything we do, and we're looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to help ensure our site continues to operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest regulatory standards.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Facilities Manager to lead our Site Services function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced facilities or engineering professional who enjoys a varied role combining leadership, technical problem solving, and compliance management.
You will be responsible for ensuring all site facilities, engineering systems, utilities, and critical equipment are maintained, serviced, calibrated, and qualified to support our regulated laboratory operations. You'll also lead our Facilities team, manage contractors, and play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment.

Our Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who brings both strong technical expertise and excellent leadership skills. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience managing facilities or engineering services within a regulated environment such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or laboratory facilities.
- A strong understanding of building services, utilities, and planned preventative maintenance.
- Experience managing contractors and service providers.
- Knowledge of GMP, GLP, or other regulated quality systems.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining asset registers, maintenance records, and compliance documentation.
- The ability to diagnose faults, coordinate repairs, and minimize equipment downtime.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across multiple departments.
- A proactive, practical approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
As Facilities Manager You Will:
- Lead and manage the Site Services department, including the Facilities Engineer.
- Ensure the reliable operation of site utilities, engineering systems, and building infrastructure.
- Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, qualification, and statutory inspections.
- Manage external contractors, service providers, and maintenance contracts.
- Oversee critical laboratory and building systems including HVAC, BMS, fire alarms, autoclaves, purified water systems, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioning, electrical services, and laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with laboratory teams to minimize operational downtime.
- Maintain the company Asset Register and equipment records, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Produce and review SOPs, maintenance documentation, change controls, and non-conformance reports.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, Health & Safety legislation, and company quality systems.
- Monitor facilities performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive cost-effective maintenance solutions.
- Manage site waste, pest control, and general building maintenance.
- Participate in the site's out-of-hours call-out rota.
