Facilities Manager

Job Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee day-to-day facilities operations to ensure smooth running of the site.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
- Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers, including raising work orders and monitoring performance.
- Support budgeting and cost control for facilities activities, ensuring value for money.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify risks, defects, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.
- Ensure facilities systems are maintained in line with manufacturer guidance and statutory schedules.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents in line with agreed procedures, escalating appropriately.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a facilities management or building services role, ideally within a multi-site or fast-paced environment (i.e. hospital, prison, or government building).
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety requirements and compliance best practice.
- Experience managing contractors and service providers, including performance monitoring and issue resolution.
- Working knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building fabric).
- Ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands, and deliver to agreed service levels.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Competent IT skills for maintaining records and managing facilities documentation.
- Relevant qualification in facilities management, building services, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Relevant certifications in health and safety (such as IOSH or NEBOSH) are desirable.
- Experience with risk assessments and methodical inspection routines.
