Role Description
The Facilities Officer (fixed term) is a full-time, on-site role based in Hindley. The role is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of facilities operations, including routine building checks, maintenance requests, and ensuring that clinical and non-clinical areas are safe, clean, and well-presented. The Facilities Officer will liaise with contractors and suppliers, monitor service schedules, and support the implementation of health and safety procedures across the hospice.

Daily tasks include:

- Responding to facilities-related queries from staff
- Maintaining records and compliance documentation
- Assisting with minor repairs and room set-ups for clinical activities, meetings, and events
The role also supports emergency procedures, contributes to continuous improvement in facilities standards, and works closely with colleagues to provide a supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Facilities Operations and Facility Management (FM), including coordinating maintenance, overseeing building services, and managing contractors or service providers.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices, with knowledge of relevant regulations, risk assessments, and safe working procedures in a healthcare or similar environment.
- Effective Communication skills, including the ability to liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff, suppliers, and visitors, and to maintain clear written records and reports.
- Proven Customer Service skills, with a focus on supporting patients, families, and colleagues in a professional, respectful, and responsive manner.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work proactively, and solve problems in a busy environment; basic IT skills for using facilities systems and documentation.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, hospice, or public service setting is beneficial; relevant facilities or health and safety certifications are an advantage.
- Willingness to adhere to hospice values, maintain confidentiality, and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team.
