At UPP, we’re looking for a Facilities Officer to join our team on a casual basis, helping us provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our students, residents and visitors.

This is a zero-hours position, with shifts available Monday to Sunday across both days and nights. Shifts are paid hourly and will vary according to the needs of the business.

As a Facilities Officer, you’ll play an important role in supporting the safety, security and smooth operation of our residence by:

  • Carrying out regular patrols of the residence and grounds, reporting security, safety or maintenance concerns
  • Monitoring health and safety standards and escalating any issues to the residence management team
  • Managing out-of-hours access and ensuring visitors, guests and contractors follow the correct signing-in procedures
  • Responding effectively to fire alarm activations and liaising with the emergency services when required
  • Logging reactive maintenance requests and passing information to the appropriate teams
  • Responding to queries and complaints in a professional, efficient and courteous manner
  • Completing accurate incident, accident, noise and welfare reports
  • Monitoring student conduct and reporting breaches of the Code of Conduct or licence agreement
  • Liaising with residents, university partners, contractors, colleagues and conference delegates
  • Supporting student welfare by working confidentially with relevant support services in line with company procedures

We’re looking for you to have:

  • Experience working in a similar role and environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • The confidence to work independently and respond calmly and professionally to a range of situations
  • A proactive, reliable and flexible approach
  • Good judgement and the ability to respond appropriately to site incidents
  • Accurate report-writing skills and an attention to detail
  • A commitment to health, safety and providing a secure environment
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including days, nights and weekends

Previous experience in facilities, security, student accommodation, hospitality or customer service would be beneficial. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for supporting others.
