Facilities Supervisor (Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Stockport Shared Service Centre

Salary: Up to £31,996.74 plus benefits inc. free bus pass for you and a selected person

Working arrangement: 4 days office, 1 day home working

We are seeking to appoint with a start date of 16th November for a 1 month handover.

Our facilities team plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and efficient working environment for colleagues, visitors and stakeholders across Stagecoach.

We're looking for a Facilities Supervisor to join our team on a fixed-term contract, supporting the day-to-day operation of our Shared Service Centre in Stockport. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you'll help ensure our building, services and facilities consistently meet the needs of colleagues, visitors and third-party stakeholders.

Leading a small facilities team, you'll oversee a wide range of operational activities including reception and visitor management, meeting room coordination, postal services, building maintenance, contractor management and health and safety compliance. You'll also play a key role in identifying efficiencies, controlling costs and maintaining high standards across all areas of the facilities function.

What you'll do:

  • Supervise, support and motivate members of the Facilities team, ensuring all daily operational activities are completed efficiently.
  • Ensure all visitors are welcomed professionally and directed appropriately throughout the building.
  • Manage incoming telephone enquiries, ensuring calls are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings, room set-up requirements and catering arrangements, including dietary requirements where required.
  • Ensure meeting room technology is fully operational, liaising with technical teams to resolve any issues.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing postal services and courier requirements, liaising with suppliers including Royal Mail and Pitney Bowes.
  • Raise purchase orders and manage the ordering of stationery, kitchen supplies and other facilities consumables.
  • Support the maintenance of building services, furniture and equipment, working with suppliers and contractors to resolve issues and complete repairs.
  • Carry out Fire Risk Assessment and Legionella compliance activities, ensuring all required checks and actions are completed and maintained.
  • Administer building access passes, maintain car parking records and support general building security processes.
  • Liaise with cleaning contractors and facilities suppliers to ensure high standards are maintained across the building.
  • Monitor departmental expenditure, identify opportunities for efficiencies and support effective budget management.
  • Hold regular team meetings, support workforce planning activities and provide updates on team performance and development.
  • Ensure staff bus passes are issued and administered for new starters, replacements and renewals.

What we need from you:

  • Experience working within a busy facilities, administrative or operational environment.
  • Previous experience supervising, coordinating or directing the work of others.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience working within budgets and identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies.

  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a workplace environment.
  • Experience managing contractors and external service providers.
  • Knowledge of Royal Mail and general postal procedures.
  • Experience working within a customer-facing role.
