RESPONSIBILITIES
The main function of this position is to supervise and coordinate the day-to-day facilities operations, ensuring that buildings, equipment, infrastructure and site services are maintained in a safe, efficient and compliant condition within a premium fastener manufacturing supplier.
The Facilities Supervisor will oversee planned and reactive facilities activities, manage contractors, support health and safety compliance, and ensure that the site environment meets operational requirements.
Specific Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day maintenance and operation of site facilities, buildings and infrastructure.
- Ensure that building services, including heating, ventilation, lighting, electrical systems, water supplies and drainage, are maintained appropriately.
- Monitor the condition of buildings, grounds, access routes, car parks and other external areas.
- Identify maintenance requirements and recommend improvements to facilities, equipment and infrastructure.
- Support the planning and delivery of facilities improvement projects, refurbishments and site modifications.
- Gather facilities management related information for continuous improvement purposes.
- Identify and perform preventative maintenance tasks (TPM).
- Ensure facilities activities are carried out in accordance with company health and safety policies, procedures and applicable UK legislation.
- Support compliance with relevant requirements relating to fire safety, workplace safety, environmental management and building maintenance.
- Ensure statutory inspections, servicing and maintenance activities are completed within required timescales.
- Monitor the safe working practices of employees and contractors undertaking facilities-related activities.
- Ensure risk assessments and method statements are reviewed and followed where required.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, supporting investigations and corrective actions.
- Maintain appropriate records relating to inspections, maintenance, statutory compliance and safety activities.
- Coordinate external contractors and service providers undertaking facilities maintenance and improvement works.
- Ensure contractors complete the appropriate site induction and comply with company health and safety requirements.
- Review contractor risk assessments and method statements where appropriate.
- Monitor contractor performance, quality of work, safety standards and adherence to agreed timescales.
- Coordinate contractor access, permits and work schedules to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Assist with obtaining quotations, evaluating service proposals and monitoring facilities-related expenditure.
- Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, contractors and service providers.

- Demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to Howmet Business Systems principles and techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Background
- IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Previous experience in a facilities maintenance, building services, maintenance supervision or similar role.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment.
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities and prioritising competing operational requirements.
- Experience supervising employees, contractors or external service providers.
- Working knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to facilities maintenance.

- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
