The role

Are you organised, proactive and passionate about delivering great customer service? Join Natural Resources Wales as a Facilities Officer and play a key role in supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of our workplaces across South West Wales.

As part of our Facilities Operations team, you will help keep our sites running smoothly by providing essential administrative and operational support. From managing emails, invoices, schedules and documentation to coordinating information and supporting compliance activities, you will make a real contribution to the day-to-day success of our facilities service.

  • Work closely with colleagues and contractors across a variety of locations, helping to deliver high-quality workplace services while building positive working relationships.
  • Contribute to the safe and responsible management of NRW equipment, information and resources.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational, communication and IT skills who enjoys working collaboratively and solving problems. Experience in facilities management is desirable, as is an understanding of health and safety legislation.

Driving is essential to this role as you will be contracted to an NRW office and required to travel regularly between sites within your allocated hub, often using an NRW vehicle. You must hold a full and current UK driving license.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to an NRW office within the place base / location above and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure Facilities Operational team is supported in its role of delivering key Facilities management service for NRW.
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivering frontline Facilities management services for NRW's customers which are essential in ensuring statutory and legal compliance in across NRW's buildings and other assets.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
  • Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post.
  • Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan (known as Sgwrs).
  • Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.

  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation relating to the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Associate of British Institute of Facilities Management (ABIFM) or similar.
  • Experience of delivering a service in a Facilities management environment, performing process and procedure tasks, assisting in the management of contracts and contractors, and delivering support to the frontline Facilities Operational teams.
  • Experience of delivering Facilities management related services within a shared service centre environment to include:
    • Good understanding of using ICT systems and other software/applications to meet the requirements of your area of responsibility.
    • Good organisational skills.
    • Good written and verbal skills and the ability to communicate confidently, with excellent customer service skills.
    • Good inter-personal skills with the ability to work under pressure using your own initiative in order to meet tight deadlines.
    • Strong IT and accurate data entry skills.
  • Experience of implementing change or process improvement would also be advantageous.

Additional Information

  • Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
  • Natural Resources Wales is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Although we hold a Skilled Worker visa sponsorship licence, it applies only to specific roles that meet both the eligibility criteria and salary requirements set out by the UK Government under the Skilled Worker visa route.
