The Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day operation, upkeep, and presentation of the Edinburgh site. This position provides first-line response to facilities issues, supports preventive and reactive maintenance, assists with moves and minor works, and works closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to keep the building running safely and efficiently. This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being visible on site.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities and Building Support

  • Carry out first-line reactive maintenance tasks across the site, including basic repairs, fixture and fitting adjustments, and minor building works.
  • Perform routine checks and planned preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Identify, report, and help resolve building, office, and lab-related issues to minimise disruption.

Contractor and Works Support

  • Support and escort contractors on site, ensuring work areas are safe, tidy, and compliant.
  • Help monitor contractor work and escalate issues to the Facilities Manager or Facilities Engineer as required.
  • Assist with small projects, minor refurbishments, and facilities upgrades.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
