About The Role

Based in Bourton-on-the-Water, this permanent, full-time Facility Caretaker post offers up to £30,000 yearly, dependent on experience, across a 37.5-hour week. The successful candidate maintains a site's cleanliness, safety and presentation, undertaking routine cleaning, minor repairs, grounds upkeep and regular checks. Job Description

The Facility Caretaker will be responsible for helping to keep the site clean, safe, well maintained and presentable, carrying out a mixture of routine cleaning, general maintenance, minor repairs, grounds work and site checks.

Working independently for much of the time, you will organise and prioritise your own workload while also coordinating external contractors and suppliers when specialist maintenance or repairs are required. The position supports both office and manufacturing areas, making this a varied role where no two days are exactly the same.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine cleaning across the site, including bathrooms and canteen areas.
  • Manage general rubbish and recycling.
  • Carry out general facilities maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Complete practical maintenance tasks including basic plumbing and other non-specialist repairs.
  • Replace air filters and support routine maintenance within manufacturing areas.
  • Identify maintenance issues and arrange specialist contractors where required.
  • Coordinate contractor and supplier visits for scheduled maintenance.
  • Support servicing, safety inspections and equipment calibration visits.
  • Maintain external grounds, including gardening, tidying and keeping outside areas presentable.
  • Carry out routine site checks and address maintenance issues where appropriate.
  • Support building locking and unlocking when required.
  • Provide occasional call-out cover for staff holidays, which may require early morning or evening attendance.
  • Carry out routine fire alarm testing.
  • Support continuous improvement projects where required.
  • Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, contractors and suppliers.

About You

  • Previous experience within a facilities, caretaker, maintenance, janitorial, handyman or general trades role.
  • Practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance and repair work.
  • Comfortable working independently and unsupervised.
  • Able to organise and prioritise your own workload effectively.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and professional working environment.
  • Comfortable carrying out a mixture of maintenance, cleaning and grounds work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to follow written instructions and maintain basic records and documentation.
  • Comfortable using email, websites and basic computer systems.
  • Able to work effectively across both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Must live close enough to the site to attend within approximately 30 minutes when required for call-outs.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similar commercial environment.
  • Basic plumbing or general trade/maintenance experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Comfortable using basic workshop or manufacturing tools.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Previous experience coordinating contractors or external maintenance providers.
  • PAT Testing, Working at Height or Forklift qualifications would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
