Factory Manager - Food Manufacturing
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Factory Manager to join an established food manufacturing business based in Crewe.
This is a key leadership position for an experienced manufacturing professional who enjoys being hands-on, visible, and accountable for factory performance.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day manufacturing operation, leading production teams and driving improvements across safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Factory Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or experienced Production Manager looking to take responsibility for a busy manufacturing operation and make a genuine impact on performance and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day factory and manufacturing operation
- Lead, develop, and engage production teams, creating a culture of accountability, ownership, and high performance
- Drive production performance against agreed KPIs, targets, and operational plans
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and output
- Maintain consistently high standards of food safety, quality, health & safety, and compliance
- Monitor and improve labor utilization, production efficiency, and operational costs
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, downtime, and production losses
- Lead and support continuous improvement and operational change initiatives
- Ensure production plans are delivered effectively and customer requirements are met
- Work closely with Technical, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to resolve issues and improve overall factory performance
- Analyse operational data and KPIs to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Support capital investment, improvement projects, and wider site initiatives
- Ensure agreed procedures, standards, and processes are consistently followed across the factory
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across the wider business
- Promote a positive culture focused on safety, quality, performance, and continuous improvement

About you
We are looking for an experienced manufacturing leader with a strong background within food manufacturing or FMCG. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in a Factory Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, or similar senior operational role
- Strong experience leading production teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- A track record of improving productivity, efficiency, and operational performance
- Strong knowledge of food safety, quality, and manufacturing compliance
- Experience managing KPIs, budgets, costs, and production targets
- A practical understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Strong people leadership and team development skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability
- The confidence to challenge existing processes and implement positive change
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A hands-on approach, with the ability to operate effectively on the factory floor as well as at a strategic level

This role would suit a Factory or Manufacturing Manager who enjoys being close to the operation and has a genuine passion for improving performance and developing people. You will be a visible and approachable leader who can set clear expectations, hold teams accountable, and build strong relationships across the business. Most importantly, you will be someone who can identify where improvements are needed and then take ownership of delivering them.
