Job Title: Failed Delivery Operative - Returns
Location: Derby
Salary: £13.54 per hour
Overview
We are seeking a Failed Delivery Operative - Returns to support warehouse and returns operations, ensuring the accurate handling, storage, and processing of returned products. This role involves maintaining inventory accuracy, handling temperature-sensitive materials, preparing shipments, and supporting the safe and efficient movement of stock throughout the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor temperature-sensitive materials during storage and shipment preparation to maintain required conditions.
- Update warehouse transactions, inventory records, and shipment documentation to ensure traceability and stock control.
- Identify on-hold, damaged, or non-conforming materials and process them in accordance with established procedures.
- Coordinate the movement of materials using approved warehouse equipment.
- Prepare packaging materials and shipment areas to support outbound activities.
- Escalate inventory discrepancies, damaged stock, and other non-standard handling issues for resolution.
- Support warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, staging, shipping, and returns processing.
- Maintain accurate operational records and warehouse system updates.
- Ensure compliance with safe material handling procedures and warehouse standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience within warehouse support, distribution, shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, returns processing, or a related environment.
- Understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, staging, and shipping.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles, stock movement tracking, and material traceability.
- Experience handling temperature-controlled or sensitive products is advantageous.
- Understanding of shipment documentation and warehouse record-keeping processes.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to identify and report inventory, shipment, or material handling exceptions.
- Capable of managing multiple routine tasks while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
- Comfortable working with temperature-sensitive materials in line with handling requirements.

Desirable
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent certification.
- Previous experience working in a regulated warehouse, logistics, pharmaceutical, or healthcare distribution environment.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Failed Delivery Operative - Returns, you will play an important role in ensuring returned products are processed efficiently and accurately. You'll help maintain inventory integrity, support warehouse operations, and ensure all materials are handled safely and in accordance with company procedures.
