Skills for People are a well-established charity serving disabled people and their families across NE England and north Cumbria. We are based in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Families Advice and Support Team as Team Manager. The team provide support to parents and carers of children and young people up to the age of 25 who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The team gives support in a number of ways, including:

  • One to one work with parents/carers
  • Helping with funding applications
  • Giving information advice and guidance
  • Producing information leaflets
  • Enabling peer support through meet ups, social media, and newsletters

We also run workshops and training, led by parents’ requests and feedback.

We work alongside other agencies and professionals in Newcastle upon Tyne, to support good outcomes for families. We also attend events to promote our work and network with other providers.

We are looking for someone who will be dedicated to ensuring parents and carers have the tools to help their children and to enable them to access the right support and information in a way that suits their individual needs.
