About This Role
The post holder will work in close partnership with parents, carers, and families to help remove barriers to learners’ attendance, engagement, wellbeing, and achievement, both within and beyond the school environment. Through consistent, trusted communication and proactive support, the post holder will strengthen family engagement and contribute positively to learners’ progress and outcomes. The role involves coordinating and delivering targeted individual and group interventions for learners and their families, working collaboratively with school staff and external professionals to ensure timely, joined-up support. The post holder will empower families by raising aspirations, building confidence, and promoting positive change, enabling families to develop the skills and belief needed to improve their own circumstances. The post holder will play a key role in establishing CHS as a welcoming community hub. This includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local services and provision, signposting and facilitating access to appropriate support, and fostering strong, positive relationships with families and the wider community to ensure sustained engagement and impact.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the lead point of contact for parents and carers of learners receiving targeted or additional family support.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with families to remove barriers to attendance, engagement, wellbeing, and learning, both in school and beyond.
- Take responsibility for the day to day management of attendance concerns for identified learners, implementing timely responses and liaising with the strategic attendance lead where appropriate.
- Use attendance and engagement data to identify patterns, initiate early intervention, and support sustained improvement.
- Work closely with school staff to identify learners and families who would benefit from targeted family support and regularly review caseloads and impact.
- Represent the school at multi agency meetings, including Early Help and Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, contributing professional insights and providing written reports when required.
About You
- GCSEs, including Maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent qualifications.
- Demonstrable experience of working effectively with vulnerable children/ young people/ families in either education, social work, youth work or another related area of work.
- Extensive experience of working effectively with the parents /carers of children / young people.
- Experience of working effectively with a range of professionals to promote children’s/young people’s learning or welfare OR significant recent experience in work with children and families in a statutory childcare agency.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the principles involved in giving advice and guidance to children/young people, including the place of confidentiality.
- Ability to generate effective working relationships at all levels.
