Role Description
The Family Law Paralegal will support solicitors with case management and client service in a full-time, on-site role located in the Edinburgh and Galashiels. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Drafting and preparing legal documents, court forms, and correspondence
- Maintaining case files and evidence
- Liaising with clients, courts, and external agencies
- Scheduling appointments and hearings
- Accurately recording case updates
- Assisting with legal research in family law and child protection matters
- Preparing bundles for court
- Ensuring compliance with firm procedures, deadlines, and court rules

Qualifications
- Effective case management and organisational skills, including file maintenance, document management, and deadline tracking.
- Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with clients, solicitors, courts, and external agencies.
- Competence with standard office software and legal practice management systems.
- Previous experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, ideally within family law or child protection (preferred but not essential).
- Relevant paralegal qualification or legal studies (e.g., paralegal diploma, law degree, or equivalent experience).
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain high standards of confidentiality and ethics.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to work effectively in a busy, court-focused environment.
- Commitment to client care, empathy, and professionalism when dealing with complex and emotionally challenging situations.
