Role Description

This full-time Family Lawyer role is an on-site position based in Margate. The Family Lawyer will manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedies, child arrangements, domestic abuse issues, and related disputes.

  • Advising clients on their legal rights and options
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents
  • Negotiating settlements
  • Representing clients at court hearings and other formal proceedings
  • Liaising with courts, counsel, and external agencies
  • Maintaining accurate and timely file management
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm policies
  • Contributing to client relationship management
  • Participating in business development activities
  • Supporting colleagues within the family law team

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with demonstrable experience in family law, including divorce, financial settlements, and children matters.
  • Strong knowledge of UK family law, court procedures, and relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Excellent client care skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and sensitively.
  • Effective negotiation, advocacy, and dispute resolution skills.
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills, with attention to detail in preparing statements, orders, and agreements.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritize work, and meet deadlines while maintaining high professional standards.
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to contribute to a supportive team environment.
  • Good IT literacy, including case management systems, document management tools, and standard office software.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and compliance with SRA and firm policies.
  • Experience in a high-street or regional practice and familiarity with the Kent legal market is an advantage.
