Family Legal Administrator/Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Hertford
Part-Time (17.5-20 hours per week)
12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary dependent on experience

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Family Law Legal Administrator/Assistant to join a highly regarded Family team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This role is ideal for a candidate with at least 2 years' experience in family law who is looking for a part-time position within a supportive and well-established firm. The successful candidate will join the team in September, allowing time for a comprehensive handover period.

You will provide vital support to Partners and fee earners within the Family department, assisting with a broad range of administrative, secretarial and case management duties. This is a varied role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Handling new enquiries, conflict checks and client onboarding
  • Managing fee earner diaries and appointments
  • Assisting with billing, invoicing and client account administration
  • Preparing cost update letters
  • Filing documents through the Family Court portal
  • Preparing court bundles and briefs to counsel
  • Drafting and preparing family court documentation, including divorce petitions, C100 applications, Forms E and H
  • Requesting medical records
  • Updating court bundles and case files
  • Audio typing and dictation support
  • Maintaining excellent client care standards at all times
  • Supporting the department's marketing and social media activities

The successful candidate will have previous family law experience and be comfortable working within a busy legal environment. Strong communication, organisational and IT skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively as part of a team.

This role is based in Hertford and offers 17.5-20 hours per week. Occasional travel to other offices may be required.
