Role Overview

We are seeking a Family Liaison Manager to lead on developing our approach to managing & maintaining relationships with the charity’s key stakeholder – childhood cancer patients & their families. This will involve reinventing their experience engaging with the charity, ensuring they are aware of our family welfare offering and launching a patient/family involvement group to ensure their perspective is central to the work of the charity. This is a new role within the charity and aims to position us as a ‘go to charity’ for patients and families at any point of the experience. This is an exciting opportunity to expand and develop this ground-breaking service into the future and to interact with and help those experiencing childhood cancer.

Children with Cancer UK

Children with Cancer UK is a leading children’s cancer charity dedicated to raising and investing funds into vital specialist research to save the lives of children with cancer. Our mission is to improve survival rates and the quality of survival in young cancer patients and to find ways to prevent cancer in the future. What began as a small memorial charity in 1988, has evolved into a major force raising more than £300 million and investing in over 200 research projects to help fight the injustice of cancer in children.

Main Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Work with the Welfare committee to establish, implement, and review the charity’s Family Welfare strategy.

Building Relationships

  • Be the face of Children with Cancer UK to the families we support, building long-term relationships with them and establishing trust and confidence, ensuring support is always fit for purpose.
  • Act as a long-term point of contact for advice, information, and opportunities for connection.
  • Offer practical support to patients and their families, making initial and ongoing contact to Children with Cancer UK’s new family sign-ups.
  • Manage external relationships with organisations we partner with to develop our family welfare service. For example, Spread a Smile and Beads of Courage.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to identify patient stories to be captured for our website and marketing materials.
  • Market and recruit families to visit the charity’s new retreat venue in Yorkshire with occasional travel to the venue. Act as a family liaison in the build-up, during, and after their holiday, to ensure a positive experience.
  • Attend identified conferences that will help promote our offering to the stakeholders in the sector.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
